Do not make everything be about yourself because you are not the only person on planet Earth, your community or your family, there are other people as well. So one of the things that you should also be thinking about is, what will happen to these other people like in the case of Edison’s mom. What will Thomas Edison be missing out on if I stay discouraged for a long period of time. What are we robbing other people of when we refuse to come out of discouragement and we stay even depressed, thinking that all hope is lost and the whole world is just coming to an end. So the question again is how many people are missing out on the smile that you could have given them, the help that you could have offered them, the things of value that you also could have given them, and that is one of the dangers of discouragement.
When people are discouraged, they fail to see the value on the inside of them and the value they can give others, they fail to see themselves as valuable people and it takes someone who sees themselves as a valuable person to be able to give value to others.
So, make sure that even when things are looking doom and gloom and it looks like there is no hope out of the situation, think about all the other people that you can be of help to because no matter what situation you are in, there is always someone you could be of value to.
